The Austrian motorway vignette is a toll fee charged for using the Austrian motorway network. It is managed by ASFINAG (Autobahnen- und Schnellstraßen-Finanzierungs-Aktiengesellschaft) and is mandatory for all motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight.
The vignette entitles the holder to use all Austrian motorways and expressways subject to the vignette system. Exceptions include certain road sections with separate section tolls.
Since 2023, the digital vignette has become the preferred option. It is linked directly to the vehicle's registration plate and no longer needs to be physically attached. The classic sticker vignette is still available.

View PriceThe Austrian vignette is available from numerous locations. The most convenient method is purchasing online via the official ASFINAG website. Alternatively, vignettes are available at petrol stations, tobacconists (Trafiken), ÖAMTC and ARBÖ offices, and at many border crossings.

The digital vignette has been available since 2018 and has become the preferred option. It is linked to your vehicle's official registration plate and is valid immediately after purchase.

The vignette requirement is monitored through automatic number plate recognition systems and manual checks. The following consequences apply for violations:
